Description
Lava River is a stoneware box with embellishments of a black and turquoise glaze. The inside also has a glazed bottom in black and blue tones. To make this ceramic box Pitoya, the artisan behind Caracola, had to fire it twice; the first time at 980ºC after which the glaze could be applied and the second time at a temperature of 1250ºC. Stoneware is a ceramic paste that consists of clay, silica, quartz and feldspar. It’s very characteristic for its density and fire resistance.
