Murano glass is known for its high quality and the artisans working with it are famous for achieving a great variety of colours. The sand used to make Murano glass comes from Switzerland and is very light, fine and pure, which is why the glass has such a good quality. It is made with a process where sand gets transformed into glass with the help of air and fire. This is known as blown glass. To achieve beautiful colours and different shapes it has to be treated with delicacy and care; something that the artist of this piece definitely had. Guido Giovando is an Italian glass artisan, based in Las Playitas in Fuerteventura since 2007.
