About me

Leatherwork craftspeople. This brand specializing in craft leather was founded in the Canary Islands in 2007. Behind Flypart Hecho a Mano (Hand Made) are Felipe and Paula, two young craftspeople, who have combined not only their names (Flypart), but also ideas, techniques, craftsmanship and a beautiful and united family which gives this family business the strength it needs.

“Our parents, craftspeople in their hearts and by profession (footwear and ceramics), have taught us that you can make a living from handicrafts and that is why today we are craftspeople by profession.” Paula and Felipe have embraced this occupation since childhood, being connected with craft groups and fairs, so you could say it has always been their way of life: “It’s something you carry in your heart.”

About my work

“In Flypart Hecho a Mano our greatest ambition from the beginning has been to offer quality products, working with domestic raw materials, such as Spanish cow, sheep and goat leather. Our items are manufactured entirely by craft methods, and we cherish every step in the process. Cutting, assembling, dyeing, embossing and incising the leather are all carried out by hand, achieving products made with loving care and dedication to ensure an authentic and highly durable final result.” Among their work you will find leather earrings, braided leather bracelets, necklaces, key rings, purses, pilgrim cup holders, belts, bags, satchels… whatever the world of leathercraft allows them to produce. Their pieces are worked one by one, hand to hand in their workshop, creating unique compositions. Moreover, combining leather with zamak brings creativity and delicate finishes to their creations. “When you do things with a sense of mission, you do them with love.”

Fuerteventura

“It’s been an oasis of opportunities. Given its geographical position, climate and tranquillity, Fuerteventura allows us, as craftspeople, to combine unique colours and designs which are reflected afterwards in our works in leather.” Felipe and Paula contribute to Fuerteventura society as teachers, giving leathercraft workshops in collaboration with the Island Council of Fuerteventura (EnRedArte), as well as talks in schools, passing on their artistic vision and introducing the craft profession to the educational community. “Handicrafts are always linked to the memory of communities."
